Hello lovelies, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
This year I spent Christmas Eve with my family, our family-friend Mary, my uncle, and one of my best friends & her family. Over the years this has become tradition for all of us and it’s definitely one of my favorite parts of the holiday season. This year we had a delicious vegetarian lasagna that my mom made, Mary brought lots of sweets including her famous shoe cookies (pictured below,) and Marina’s mom brought her delicious pecan pie. It was quite an impressive spread!

After dinner we exchanged gifts. I loved seeing what everyone thought of their presents and I’m so grateful for all of the wonderful gifts I received from everyone. Our friend Mary is known by all of us as one of the best discount shoppers…. ever! She has given me a lot of my favorite pieces of clothing over the years, many of which I have featured in an Outfit of the Day at some point, and this year was no different. She is seriously amazing! She got me an adorable Lilly dress (on sale!!!) as well as some other wonderful surprises. Marina and her family got me an adorable Vera Bradley bag I’d been wishing for, so that was a wonderful surprise as well!
After opening gifts, we follow a German tradition and look for the pickle ornament on our tree. Whoever finds it first gets an extra present. Typically, I find the pickle first, but this year my little sister did and she earned a gift certificate for frozen custard, yummy!
We ended the night with Midnight Mass which was so beautiful. I love singing carols with everyone each year, but I’m always absolutely exhausted when we get home afterwards. After Mass, my sister and I placed out milk and cookies in anticipation of the arrival of Santa Claus. Once I finally got to bed, I think that I fell asleep before my head could hit the pillow.
It was a fun and very full day/night spending time with the people I love. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Eve as well!
