This past Tuesday I went to hear Matchbox Twenty and the Goo Goo Dolls with a few of my friends at Ravinia. We had an absolutely fabulous time and the music was great! The show was actually quite long, because the two bands are co-headlining the tour, but that honestly made it even better. We basically got two concerts in one!
My friends and I had a picnic dinner out on the lawn with some mexican food, pizza, sweet treats, sodas, and lemonade. The outdoor aspect is one of my favorite things about Ravinia. It’s a blast as long as the weather is nice. Luckily for us, the weather was perfect that evening! It wasn’t too hot or too cold and it didn’t rain! My friend Kristen and I were both sporting Lilly bows that night. She had her’s on the back of her shirt and mine was on the back of my head!

Out of the two bands, I definitely like Matchbox Twenty more, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the Goo Goo Dolls’ performance. My favorite songs to hear live by the Goo Goo Dolls were “Iris” and “Rebel Beat.” My favorite Matchbox Twenty songs to hear live were “She’s So Mean,” “Real World,” “How Far We’ve Come,” “Push,” and “Unwell.” Both bands were fabulous live! There’s something so much more fun about hearing music live compared to listening to it online and from recordings. I have another concert that I’m going to next weekend and then one in mid-August as well. I’m so excited for both of them!
Have you gone to any concerts so far this summer?
