“A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.” -Nelson Mandela
Parents always talk about moments in which they feel especially proud to be someone’s parent, but children talk about having these feelings with their parents much less. I think that a child’s pride for their parent is underrated and seldom stated, so today I’m going to brag a little bit and tell you about a huge, recent achievement of my mom’s.
I am so proud of my mom for graduating with her master’s in written communication this weekend!
Getting your master’s takes TONS of work, and she has certainly had her share of sleepless and late nights. In the course of the past few years my mom has been juggling so many things all at once: earning her master’s, student-teaching for a semester, maintaining the house, and taking fantastic care of our family. She is such a talented writer and thinker and she inspires me every day to be a kind and thoughtful person. She has taught me to set big goals for myself, because, as she has demonstrated, they are attainable with the right amount of work. I don’t think I could be any prouder of her and I would like to make the statement that:
My mom is amazing!
After the graduation ceremony in the afternoon, our family went to Harry Caray’s downtown for dinner. It was such a treat! I got the Chilean sea bass which was absolutely divine! I’d highly recommend it if you ever go there.

of course I had to get a picture with the Harry Caray bust |

Make sure you tell your parents that you’re proud of them every once in a while. They probably don’t hear it anywhere near often enough.
Have a marvelous Monday!
P.S. Love you Mom!
