One of my all-time favorite quotes is “Everything happens for a reason.”
I spoke in a recent post about silver linings and how I do my best to find them in every situation. I think that this quote in particular takes that one step further and touches on the fact that you may not see a silver lining at first. Occasionally, it takes a bit more time to find the silver linings and positive after effects of an occurrence, but when you find them it all makes sense!
On my latest NYC trip I purchased this Alex & Ani bangle which I wear almost every day as a constant reminder of this quote!
Some may call it coincidence, but I truly believe that everything that happens transpires in a specific way because it is a part of something bigger. I’ve had many circumstances in my life where I’ve questioned why something seemingly negative has happened, but then I look back and realize that something wonderful came about in my life because that initial situation occurred.
Sometimes we’re put into situations that knock us down, but then we build ourselves back up and see that we’re stronger than ever before. Sometimes people criticize us and we take that criticism to become even better at what we do. Sometimes we lose friendships, but in the process we strengthen other friendships and build new ones. Sometimes we don’t do as well at something as we’d like to, but then we use our failure to propel us forward and inspire us to do 10x better the next time around.
One of the biggest occurrences to which I can connect this quote to was when I started blogging. As I discussed in a post I wrote in 2013, I started Bowtiful Life during my junior year of high school after having to take a break from dance. That break, which was so incredibly difficult and frustrating at the time, resulted in something that has become a huge and positive part of my life. Without that break, Bowtiful Life wouldn’t exist, none of you would be reading this post right now, and Lord only knows what I would be doing with my free time!
Everything happens for a reason, absolutely everything, and I am so grateful for that!
