Many of you probably heard about the craziness that was the Lilly for Target launch a few weeks ago and the pure chaos that occurred! I wasn’t up for dealing with the craziness that everyone expected, but I had my eye on a few things, so I had planned to shop online or go into stores during the week of the release. However, I don’t think anyone expected that things would be as crazy as they were that day… around midnight, the Target website crashed and then in most stores the collection sold out in under half an hour! It was absolute madness!
I was disappointed that I hadn’t had the chance to buy anything from the long awaited collection, but as I looked through social media to see what everyone was buzzing about, I realized that a lot of Lilly lovers were absolutely livid about how everything had gone down that morning. According to numerous people, lots of Ebay resellers had gotten wind of the Lilly for Target collaboration and saw it as a great chance for them to cash in. That morning, people had been pulling full size runs of shift dresses into their carts and grabbing everything they could off of the shelves as soon as the stores had opened. After realizing just how much these resellers were trying to mark up the prices, I got so mad. I wasn’t the only frustrated Lilly lover and numerous groups popped up on Facebook in the hours and days following the release that were for the sole purpose of giving people a chance to get Lilly for Target items at retail price and keep business away from the resellers.
I joined one group where people were going into Targets and posting pictures of what their store still had and then picking up and shipping out things for people who commented with their PayPal email address and what items they wanted. It was so nice to see the Lilly community coming together to combat the negativity that initially came from aftermath of the craziness. Thanks to a fellow Lilly lover in Kentucky, I was able to get my hands on this romper I’d had my eye on and only had to pay the retail price + tax and shipping. I love this romper so much!!! Not only is it cute, it’s also incredibly comfy and I can’t wait to wear it all summer during the warm weather!
