I’m a sucker for a fun lip product, so while I was in NYC I stopped by the BITE Lip Lab on Prince Street in SoHo to design my very own BITE lipstick. This location is the only BITE Lip Lab in the world and when designing your lipstick you get to pick four aspects: 1. The color (of course) 2. The texture/finish. 3. The scent 4. The style of lid.
I decided to create a neutral pink lip color since I typically struggle with finding lighter pink or nude lipsticks that go with my complexion as well as my naturally dark lips. Due to being pretty fair skinned, most nude lips are pretty much out of the question for me and then pale pink lipsticks typically end up looking odd due to my natural color peeking thorough as the product wears off. For this reason, I typically lean toward berry toned products, but for the lipstick I designed I went for a combination of a berry and a pink tone, which ended up resulting in a rich mid-toned pink!
These were the three colors we mixed and tried out, the middle was the winner!
For my scent, I decided on a mixture of violet and vanilla. I especially liked the violet scent, but alone it was a bit strong, so I added the vanilla for a bit of a softer scent.
Next, they mixed up the base, color and scent then poured the mix into a mold which was placed in a freezer to solidify for a few minutes.
The final steps were pulling the lipstick out of the mold with the tube and picking out which lid I wanted.
I went with the lid on the far left because it reminded me of someone taking a bite out of something, so I thought that was amusingly appropriate.
The final product!
I’d highly suggest checking out the BITE Lip Lab if you’re ever in SoHo. It was a super fun experience and the product I ended up with was both custom and high quality. I plan on going back next time that I’m in NYC!
