Hey, lovelies! For those of you who follow me on Snapchat &/or Instagram, you may have seen some posts and snaps about a top secret project that I was working on with seven fellow college-age bloggers earlier this month. I’m super excited to finally be able to share what we were doing with all of you! I’ll also have all these wonderful ladies’ blogs linked at the bottom of this post, so be sure to check all of them out and give them some love!
As many of you know, I’m involved with various philanthropies and causes both through Greek life at Loyola and on my own time. I have a passion for giving back, so participating in this experience was truly a privilege!
The eight of us were given the amazing opportunity to team up with the Kraft Heinz Company Foundation and Stop Hunger Now to take part in one of their meal packing events at the Kraft Heinz Company headquarters in downtown Chicago! The other bloggers were flown in from various states and campuses around the country and we all stayed at the Radisson Blu Aqua hotel, which was just a short walk from the Kraft Heinz headquarters, right in the center of the city.
The Kraft Heinz Company Foundation is committed to eliminating hunger and malnutrition which is why they’ve partnered with Stop Hunger Now to hold meal packing events in their offices all over the world and on college campuses across the USA! By hosting these events on college campuses they hope to engage students in the fight to end world hunger and to bring about awareness. That being said, it was such a cool experience to take part in one of these events as a college student!
Before the event kicked off, we heard from various speakers who were involved with the Kraft Heinz Company Foundation and Stop Hunger Now, as well as a U.S. Senator.
The meal packing event featured a sort of assembly line. It started off with filling bags with raw ingredients and one of the special micronutrient powder packets that was developed by the Kraft Heinz Company experts to provide 19 essential vitamins and minerals to people in need. Kraft Heinz donates these packets to each of the meal packing events that they co-host. After the bags were filled, they were weighed, sealed, boxed, and stacked onto palettes which will be sent to various feeding programs around the world for distribution! During our shift alone, we packed 45,000 meals! Throughout the day and the other shifts, the event as a whole packaged 135,000 meals which is absolutely incredible!!!
It was truly an honor to take part in this experience and I loved learning about what the Kraft Heinz Company Foundation does to help combat world hunger.
I also loved getting to show these remarkable girls around the city that I call home. I’m so grateful to have shared this experience with all of them and formed new friendships while supporting such a fantastic cause!
Be sure to check out all these amazing girls and their blogs/Instagrams (Listed L to R)
