Leather Skirt & Drusy Details

Is anyone else having a case of the Mondays today? I feel like I’ve been in a fog all day!

My friend Allie and I shot this look recently and it was honestly a total confidence boost for me. We were walking around to shoot and I felt so city chic! I’ve never really been into the whole leather clothes trend… Bags yes, but skirts and leggings, not so much. I tried out this leather Rebecca Minkoff skirt to play around with styling it and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it!

There’s something that’s powerful and commanding about leather. There’s so much substance to the material, but the smoothness also adds a sense of luxury. This Rebecca Minkoff skirt was the perfect dark chocolate brown shade and it paired so well with black! I know some people suggest staying away from pairing browns and blacks, but I don’t really follow the rules about what colors you can and can’t mix. (I also don’t follow the no white after labor day rule, but that’s a story for another post.)

For this simple but strong look, I balanced out the intensity of the leather with daintier jewelry and some fun stackable rings. Choosing jewelry is one of my favorite parts about putting together looks for the blog. In my opinion, jewelry is the perfect finishing touch and it can make or break a look.

The sole complaint I have about this skirt is that it kept spinning around on me and I found the buckles moving quite a bit as I was walking around downtown. Now, that may be more due to a size issue rather than the construction, but it’s something I noticed multiple times throughout the day and it definitely was a bit annoying having to constantly check and adjust how the skirt was sitting.

I’ve got to be honest, after shooting this look I went online and started searching for good leather and faux leather pants/leggings because now I want to give them a try too!
