I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Christmas Eve and Day surrounded by your friends, families, loved ones, and lots of yummy food! After a few days off for the holidays, I’m back to share some of the mantras I’m keeping in mind for 2018 as well as some New Year’s Eve outfit inspiration!
– What I Wore –
Joie Lace Dress – BITE Beauty Lip Crayon in “Glace” (One of my go-to brands and colors!) – Dainty Diamond Necklace – David Yurman Bangle – Kendra Scott Allie Earrings – Three Part Cocktail Ring (GUN NAOMI)- Hematite Pave Bracelet – J.Crew Patent Leather Heels (I’ve had these for ages! Sadly, they don’t make them anymore, but here’s a similar style!)
I’ve tried making resolutions for New Years before, but I end up being pretty rotten at keeping them a good portion of the time… Rather than picking a set of resolutions for this year, I’ve chosen to focus on a few mantras for inspiration when it comes to living out my everyday life.
One of my major mantras for 2017 was actually something I began emphasizing for myself at the beginning of my senior year of college:
“Trust the timing of your life.”
This was incredibly important to me as I was in the process of looking into post-grad opportunities during senior year and as I prepared for graduation. It kept me sane through so many times when I would question what the next chapter in my life would be. Now that I’m 6 months out of school it’s still a mantra that I visit in my mind almost daily and keeps me on track. “Trust the timing of your life” is a simplified way of saying, “everything happens for a reason,” “everything is going to be okay,” “if it’s meant to be it’ll be,” and “don’t worry” all at once.
As this remains one of my primary personal mantras, in 2018 I’m also focusing on a few others:
“Know your worth & be willing to fight for what you deserve.”
“Lead with your heart & your feet will follow.”
“Don’t be afraid of the unknown. Say yes to new opportunities & experiences.”
“Speak the truth with courage, but also with kindness & good intentions.”
“Go into every day with an open heart & mind.”
Obviously, I could list a bunch more in this same vein, but I wanted to stick with just a few that I could keep as a reminder and take a look at every morning before heading into the day.
I’m going to be ringing in 2018 at my friends’ apartment, so I won’t be going super fancy this year. The look featured in this post is what I would wear if I was attending a fancier ticketed event at a hotel, restaurant, or other venue. I’m definitely a fan of the classic sparkly and festive holiday outfit, so if you have a fun event to attend or you just want to dress up with friends I’ve included some of my picks and NYE inspo below!
What are your mantras for 2018 and where will you be ringing in the new year this time around?
