As winter wraps up and the first day of spring approaches (March 20th, come faster please!) the weather in Chicago becomes less and less predictable. Just this week we had a day in the high sixties with a day after it that was in the low thirties! With these crazy up and down temperatures layers are key whenever you’re walking out the door. This puffer vest from L.L. Bean is one of my layering go-to’s at this time of year and although they don’t make this exact cut anymore, their down vests and jackets are some the best. I grew up wearing L.L.Bean and Lands’ End jackets pretty much every year and my current big puffer coat is from Lands’ End.

My favorite way to wear vests is either over a sweater and jeans, like this look, or with a long sleeved shirt, skirt, and some warm tights. I think that a vest is the perfect finishing touch for this time of year to make sure you don’t totally freeze while out and about, but it’s also easier to carry around than a jacket if the weather warms up throughout the day.
I got these Tory Burch booties for Christmas this year from my aunt and they’ve quickly become one of my favorite pairs of shoes that I own! I love wearing them with simpler outfits like this one to add some pizazz, but I’m so excited for spring to come so that I can pair them with cute little dresses and skirts! I think that these booties will be great year-round because of the universal print and the neutral tones and I get comments and compliments on them almost every time I wear them out and about. I’m a big fan of shoes that make a statement and these do exactly that!
