Halloween is on Wednesday, so I’m sharing some last-minute Halloween costume ideas today! Ever since my sophomore year of college, I’ve been dressing up as a Disney character for Halloween… and I always plan it VERY last minute. It all started because I had a huge test the week of Halloween and I honestly forgot that it was the day after my test. I had a party to attend with one of my guy friends for his fraternity, so I needed a costume, and fast. I ended up throwing together a Minion costume in a bit of a frenzy out of clothing and craft supplies that I had laying around my dorm. (Scroll to the bottom of the post to see it!) Since then, I’ve continued the tradition by putting together Disney costumes with a combination of things that I already have sitting around + a few low-priced items that I buy the week-of. I also always edit the photo to add the character into the picture!
Tinker Bell
This costume consisted of a dress I bought at the Urban Outfitters surplus store for $7, a pair of earrings I already owned, and a pair of $10 wings from Target. All you really need for this look is wings, a pale green dress, and throw your hair into a bun!
Rapunzel
This is probably my favorite costume from the last few years. To create this look, I started off with a lacy Forever 21 dress that I borrowed from a friend. I went to Michael’s for the flowers, which I picked up in the scrapbooking aisle to superglue to bobby pins. I bought Pascal, the chameleon, on Amazon and pinned it to my shoulder to complete the look.
Boo
This costume was by far the comfiest I’ve ever worn, and it was so easy! I just threw on an oversized pink shirt, purple leggings, and white Converse. Obviously I had to throw my hair into pigtails to complete the look! I wish that I’d had time to get the right style hair ties, but that’s what happens when you plan these things last minute!
Minion
The costume that started it all… and was by far the most “creative”. I already owned the yellow shirt and I borrowed the black skirt from a friend. Looking back, it would have been better to wear a denim skirt, but that’s what I was working with! My “suspenders” were made out of ribbon from my crafting kit (tbt to my sorority days) pinned to my skirt. The Gru logo and eyeball were created with the remnants of a cardboard box from a package I’d received that day along with some acrylic paint. I was SO proud of this costume given how last minute it was and it went over very well!
I’m going to be dressing as a Disney character again this year! Any guesses as to who/what I’ll be this time around? Keep an eye on my Instagram and #BowtifulHalloween hashtag to find out!
