This weekend was one for the books! I had the pleasure of attending the Art Institute of Chicago’s annual Garden Party with their Evening Associates Board. It honestly was one of the best events I’ve ever been to! We entered the event through the Pritzker Garden on the east side of the museum which was filled with music from a DJ Sadie Woods and later, live music from Astro Samurai.
Jim and I spent the evening with three other Chicago bloggers and their significant others. (I had such a great time with my gals (L to R) Laura, Lexi, and Kylie and their wonderful guys!) While the girls ran around the party taking photos, talking about blogging and refilling our rosé at the open bar, the guys hung out, chatted and got to know each other. The event as a whole felt like a garden party straight out of Gossip Girl which, as many of you know, is my all-time favorite TV show!
They also had a photo booth set up! We received printouts of our pictures as well as gifs to post on our social channels. They all turned out pretty darn funny if I do say so myself! Who else panics when they’re told to do 4 different poses in about 10 seconds… because I certainly do! *Insert awkward peace sign or jazz hands here.*
I love dressing up for special events, so I had a great time planning my outfit for this fun soiree! This flowy, floral dress from Chicwish ℅ was the perfect vibe for the evening and I got so many compliments on it! I added some statement earrings ℅ and a dainty bracelet from Kendra Scott, my Gucci crossbody, and these customized Naturalizer heels ℅ to finish off the look!
Another awesome aspect of the night was private access to the Manet and Modern Beauty exhibit throughout the garden party! I am a huge fan of impressionist art, so this was truly a treat for me. (Fun fact: I was an art minor in college!)
Impressionism has always been my favorite style. In fact, to this day, the Impressionist Wing is one of my favorite parts of the AIC! I have memories going back to when I was a toddler of walking through that wing with my mom!
The Manet exhibit is being housed in the AIC’s special exhibitions portion of the museum, which holds their featured exhibits. Jim and I walked through at the beginning of the event, so it was like having the exhibit to ourselves!
A massive thank you to the Evening Associates Board for hosting us for such a wonderful evening. We had the best time!
