Hey lovelies, I hope that you’re all doing well! (Quick heads up that today’s post is for readers who are 21 & up.) Today I’m going to teach you how to make one of my current go-to cocktails, a Lilac Lady. I came up with this recipe after Empress 1908 Gin reached out to collaborate with me on a sponsored Instagram post. It turned out wonderfully, so I thought I’d share it here on the blog* too!
I’ve wanted to start a “Bowtiful Bartender” series for quite some time now. So, I was excited to finally have a bit of a kick in the pants to finally get it rolling! Here is the first installment in what I hope will become an ongoing series here on Bowtiful Life.
The Lilac Lady is my variation of a White Lady, which I learned to make a few years ago at a cocktail class that Cointreau invited me to! I kept this recipe very simple since we’re in quarantine times, so I took a look in my fridge and at my bar cart and this was the end result! This is a strong and citrusy cocktail and my recipe that I’ve listed below yields two servings. (Either one for you and one for a friend OR two for yourself if you’re planning on having two anyways.) You can also cut the ingredients in half to make just one if you prefer!
Ingredients
2 oz. Empress 1908 Gin (This creates the lilac tonality!)
2 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. lemon juice
1 oz. lime juice
fresh lime wedges
a glass
ice cubes
a cocktail shaker (You can use a water bottle if you don’t own one!)
How-To
- Combine the gin, Cointreau, lemon juice and lime juice into a glass
- Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice
- Pour the mixture over the ice, attach the cup to the shaker and SHAKE! – The rule of thumb that I was taught is to shake until the shaker is so cold/icy that it almost hurts to hold. This is usually about 30 seconds max.
- Strain the mixture from the shake into your drinking glass – I’d highly recommend using a clear class so you can appreciate the lovely lilac color!
- Garnish with a lime wedge
- Enjoy!

I hope that you enjoyed this inaugural installment of Bowtiful Bartender! I know this one was pretty simple, but I’m excited to share more cocktails with you in the future. If you try making the Lilac Lady for yourself, let me know what you think. Cheers!
*Please note that this blog post is not sponsored, but the gin used in this recipe was gifted by Empress 1908 Gin for an Instagram campaign.
