This is 25. Quarantine style! On Friday, April 3rd, 2020 I celebrated my 25th birthday! Needless to say, with everything that’s been going on recently, my birthday didn’t really look anything like I’d planned. Originally, for my 25th birthday I was hoping to go to a nice dinner on Friday, have a night out with a larger group of friends on Saturday and then get brunch with some close friends on Sunday. Yep… Obviously, none of that was able to happen.
Instead, I was able to celebrate virtually with friends and family in multiple ways! I felt so loved and thought of all day long! I know that so many people have other, bigger things to think and worry about, so the fact that people still took the time to take care of me was so sweet. My day was packed with treats, calls with the people I love, and special surprises!
First off, I did my birthday photoshoot inside vs. outside this year. I was grocery shopping a few days prior at TJ’s for my essentials for the next few weeks. So, I ended up grabbing a small cake too! This made the perfect prop for my shoot since I still had some candles from a previous birthday celebration. I also got to wear this cute dress that I got from H&M for the first time. (I haven’t been able to wear it out and about yet, so this was the best possible alternative for now!)
My family ended up getting me the lap desk that I’d included on my birthday wish list this year. They (even our dog) Facetimed me right before midnight and were on the phone with me as I turned 25! I’ve been separated from my family since before stay-at-home orders started because my parents are both high risk. With that in mind, I wanted to be extra safe and keep my distance to protect them. So Facetiming with all of them was such a treat!
On the day of my birthday, some of my best friends from college (and in general) were super sweet and sent me Sprinkles cupcakes!!! One of my many nicknames is MRR, since those are my initials and in college I monogrammed pretty much everything. (Basic, I know.) So, they had Sprinkles add my monogram to the cupcakes! We love a good personal touch! As soon as the cupcakes were delivered, my friends group Facetimed me and we had a mini virtual party. Definitely a highlight of the day!
One of my blogger buds, Lexi, also sent me some goodies from Foxtrot Market! Who doesn’t love wine and chocolate on their special day!? I can’t wait to celebrate with friends in person after all of this is over! In fact, I’m already thinking that I’ll just end up hosting a half birthday party for my 25th at this point. Gives me something to look forward to, that’s for sure!
I was also surprised with an Uber Eats gift card and this beautiful bouquet of tulips! (The flowers are still thriving over on my desk as I write this post.) Thanks to the generous gift card, for lunch, I ordered sushi and got my favorite rolls (Dragon and California) as well as a Taro bubble tea. YUM! I also was able to get another Facetime call in during my lunch which was wonderful. 🙂 (Basically the closest thing to going out with someone for lunch or dinner for now.)
I ended my day with some House of Cards and dinner delivered from one of my favorite Chicago late-night spots, Cheesies! (Again, thanks to the gift card. Seriously, such a great gift!) I got my go-to’s: the “Frenchie” grilled cheese, tater tots and some fried pickles. (Not pictured.) I seriously dream about this grilled cheese and get cravings for it, so it was the perfect way to end my day.
It certainly wasn’t quite the birthday that I’d planned on, but it was wonderful and SO relaxing!!! Thank you all so much for the lovely birthday wishes, sweet messages and for making me feel special on my birthday. I appreciated it more than you know!!!
