“A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.” -Nelson Mandela Parents always talk about moments in which they feel especially proud to be someone's parent, but children talk about having these feelings with their parents much less. I think that a child's pride for their parent is underrated and seldom stated, so today I'm going to brag a little bit and tell you about a huge, recent …

Rising Sophomore
I can't believe it, I really can't.Freshman year has flown by in the blink of an eye, and it's officially over. I took my last final as a freshman yesterday and my roommate, Ola, and I move out of our dorm this evening. Even as I type this post, surrounded by packed suitcases and my now-bare walls, it's crazy to believe we're leaving this room which we've called home for the last few months... in just a few hours. This year has been filled with so many different emotions. It's been such a blast, …
Tell ‘Em That It’s My Birthday
Guess what today is... 19. I honestly can't believe that today is the start of my last year classified as a "teenager." Now, to contrast that, here's a #TBT from back in the day... circa age four Eighteen was an absolutely amazing year for me. I went to prom, graduated from high school, got my first real summer job (besides babysitting), met yet another blogger friend, went to a few concerts (1, 2, 3), started college, joined a sorority, got a big/became a little, helped …
Two Years
"Time flies when you're having fun!" I honestly can't believe that as of today I have been blogging for two years! When I created Bowtiful Life during my junior year of high school I had no idea that something which was started as just a fun hobby would turn into such a rewarding experience and integral part of my life and identity. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would become the creator of a website that would gain over 105,000 views from readers that are all over the …
The Big Question: Why I Started Blogging
There are a few questions that I get asked quite regularly as a blogger, but I think that the most common one is: How and why did you start blogging? The story of how I started blogging is somewhat bittersweet. I've been a blog reader for quite a while, but I didn't start my own blog until January of 2012 when I was in my junior year of high school. My sophomore and junior year I had been on my school's poms team, which I loved. Dancing is a major passion of mine, I've basically been …
College Life: Move In Day!
The big day has arrived...it's move in day!I officially move into my residence hall this afternoon with my fabulous roommate and friend, Ola. I can't believe that today is finally here! I have been packing all week and making trips to the store for random bits and pieces that I've realized I needed. At this point I feel pretty prepared, but I'm sure that once I'm settled in I'll realize that I need to pick up a few things. I've lived in the same house for almost all of my life, so this is …

Graduation Day
It's graduation day! This journey has been a crazy four years, full of plenty of ups and downs, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I can honestly say that I will miss my school, teachers, & especially all the wonderful friends I've made. It's strange to think just how much will be changing in these next few months, but I'm so excited for all that life has in store. I know that I'm more than ready for this new chapter in my life to begin & that today is not only an ending, but …
